BEHIND THE SCENES: This is a monoprint (on a plexiglass plate) working with acetate forms created in advance with the intention to provide the composition some defined forms and structure. A little spontaneity with some planning, and always play. My subject, the awareness of Brooklyn’s overcrowded, chaotic urban space with real estate (over) development proliferating —and affordable housing no where to be found. Brooklyn, New York—especially near Prospect Park my home base —is smack in the middle of over-building. These new structures feel out of scale to the Brooklyn I have always called home. Even sadder, it seems real estate interests have been placed before the basic human need for shelter and safety.
